Slow Pace of Medical Marijuana

More questions from state lawmakers about the slow pace of Florida's Medical Marijuana program.

Christian Bax at the Department of Health says they're moving as fast as they can but Representative Ralph Massullo of Lecanto says they need to do more.

"I see this more as the boy that has their finger in the dam, and they can only hold it for so long," he said. "You're doing a wonderful job, but I also believe the department needs to do more to try to carry out the law that we worked hard to pass."

Massullo is a doctor in real life and he says its taking way too long for patients to navigate the medical marijuana application process.

More than 52 thousand patients are listed on the state's official registry, but only 20 thousand of them have actually received their medical marijuana cards.
