Isleworth Millionaire Sentenced after Manslaughter Conviction

Central Florida millionaire Bob Ward was sentenced Thursday to 30 years in prison, according to central Florida court records.

The sentencing was for an earlier conviction of manslaughter in the death of his wife.

A jury had found Ward guilty of manslaughter earlier this year, in what had turned out to be his second trial in connection with the woman's death.

Diane Ward had died in 2009, and Bob Ward had been convicted in an earlier trial, but records show that the conviction was tossed by the judge because of a legal technicality.

A second trial was ordered, and resulted in Ward's manslaughter conviction and subsequent sentencing.

Prosecutors had said that, in the events of 2009, tensions had been high with the couple.

Ward's defense had claimed that the wife was unstable and was attempting to shoot herself.

The defense had claimed that Ward had struggled with his wife for the gun, and it went off.
